A group of local residents living in streets close to the former bandstand site came together at the invitation of the Steering Group to see and hear a presentation about the project and discuss their ideas and concerns. During a 2 hour discussion session held at Queen’s Park Parish Church on 21 January, about 30 residents quizzed steering group members about the project and put forward ideas. There was broad support for the project and a number of suggestions about how events could be managed and financed. Several residents suggested that a regular programme of events – say during summer weekends – would help build audiences. There was support for the idea of having a roof or canopy over the performance area. Concerns raised included noise from pa systems and speakers, drainage and site security. The steering group have undertaken to take these ideas and concerns into consideration.
