The Queen's Park Performance Project is a collaboration of the four Community Councils which border Queen's Park with support from Glasgow City Council.

Four Community Councils –

      Mt Florida                  

      Govanhill/Crosshill

      Langside, Battlefield and Camphill (lead council)

      Shawlands and Strathbungo

The group was formed in April 2009 immediately after the announcement of the pilot schemes by the Scottish Government and met at 2-3 weekly intervals. It role is to develop and deliver the restored performance and develop sustainable management arrangements:

1. provide leadership and steer the development on behalf of the community,
2. consult local people to gauge their preferences and suggestions within the project framework and to incorporate these wherever possible.
3. inform and engage stakeholders, e.g. Glasgow City Council, local community groups, elected members, etc.
4. consult with potential promoters and performers.
5. draw up a design brief and establish costs and likely duration and/or phasing of the work.
6. develop partnerships and set up appropriate constitutional arrangements, management committee and programming methodology to ensure the sustainability of the space in maintenance and operation.
7. seek capital funding.
8. commission and oversee works.
9. report progress to Scottish Government

 So far we have:

-          Surveyed the site.

-          Researched its history.

-          Brainstormed possibilities about the benefits, possible uses and potential of the site.

-          Obtained a site plan, preliminary structural drawings and outline cost estimate.

-          Informed local people and carried out a questionnaire to assess the views and preferences of individuals in our community.

-          Identified other areas for community engagement.

-          Investigated some possible funding sources.

-          Identified community groups, arts organisations and other potential stakeholders.
